A Certain Theme for Today
The theme for today was prayer.
Today God directed conversation between a friend and myself on Twitter and it was all about prayer.
A week ago I started a new Bible study Nehemiah by Kelly Minter. I have just finished week 1 and I am loving this study and the many points that Kelly brought out during this first week.
I quoted her on Twitter today and my friend Fran tweeted me to tell me that she and a group of mamas were meeting today to pray for their children and families. Her tweet made me smile and I was proud of them for coming together to pray. It's time we take back our families from the enemy's grip!
The quote I first tweeted was this: "It's just as important how we approach God as it is what we ask of Him."
Fran tweeted Nehemiah 4:14,
After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, "Don't be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes."
We realized after tweeting a few times that God was speaking the same thing to each of us about prayer.
One thing was that God was reminded us to pray Scripture back to him when we pray for our families.
Kelly also said this in week one and I thought it was just beautiful, "one of the beauties of intercessory prayer is that is builds community as it divinely attaches you to those for whom you are praying. "
A great verse she used on prayer was Colossians 4:12-13. It talks about intercessory prayer but the word used in this verse is wrestle in prayer for someone. Exactly what we need to do for our families.
After our convo on Twitter I went to the store and I saw this on a church sign. Persist in Prayer. Pray the Scriptures. I couldn't believe it! Definitely a theme today from God.
So, I pass this on to you. Don't give up praying! Persist in prayer because God is looking for us to do just that. Will he find persistent faith? Don't give up. God is working for you, working behind the scenes and your answer will come. Trust. Faith. Believe.
Again, let us fight for our families!
